Our Services Offered

Big Sky Diagnostic Imaging offers the following services for MR.

MR Procedures

Check out some sample MRI images here. All the images are actual cases from Big Sky.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
MRI procedures are the most common type of MR procedure being utilized. They are cross sectional images of the body utilizing various imaging techniques for the evaluation of internal soft tissue and bony structures.

MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography)
MRA procedures utilize imaging techniques for the evaluation of blood vessels. This technique suppresses all soft tissue and bony structures so that the blood vessels of interest are seen without obstruction.

MRS (Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy)
MRS procedures most commonly involve collecting data for brain structures, however Spectroscopy can be utilized for collecting data in other body structures or organs. MRS utilizes techniques to evaluate the metabolite composition within a given tissue. This information can help physicians determine if the metabolic activity suggests a disease process that may or may not be evident on routine images.

fMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Functional MRI is a relatively new technique that has been driven by the higher field strength magnets, such as our 3 Tesla MRI. Functional procedures utilize a technique know as "BOLD" (Blood Oxygen Level Dependence) imaging. This technique provides information on what areas of the brain are active during certain stimulation, such as visual stimuli, speech, motor function, etc. This information can be very beneficial for pre-operative planning or for the assesment or treatment of a disease process.

Diffusion & Perfusion Procedures
Diffusion and Perfusion studies utilize imaging techniques to evaluate for abnormal blood flow volumes, or restricted fluid movement. These techniques are used a majority of the time to evaluate for Stroke activity and to determine how much tissue has been damaged in the event of a Stroke.
